The Chapel Hill High School Class of 1978 made history by establishing our school's first-ever scholarship endowment created by a graduating class. This scholarship endowment permanently honors and celebrates the memories of our classmates who are no longer with us. Through this act of giving, the spirit of the Class of 1978 endures — supporting future Tigers and ensuring our friends are forever remembered.
On May 19, 2026, during the CHHS Awards Day event, classmates Sid Sockwell and Kit Penniall presented a $1,000 scholarship to Ashley Williams. She became our third recipient, chosen from among 17 applicants. This demonstrates how students are learning about our scholarship, history, and legacy!
Thank you, Sid, for your heartfelt and encouraging presentation to Ashley. A big thank you to Kit, our fearless leader, who was also present. It’s moments like these—marked by tireless leadership—that keep our legacy relevant to younger generations for years to come!
